Pundit Gary Neville had recently suggested the Premier League should be taken to another country in a bid to finish the 2019-20 season.

Recently talks about the Premier League season reopening has been heating up and Neville feels if the authorities are actually serious then they should think about shifting the matches to another European city which is not a hotspot for the disease.

He said on Sky Sports’ The Football Show: “If the Premier League are really serious about delivering the matches that remain in a safe environment they would move it to the two or three spots that are within three or four hours of this country that are coronavirus free.

“They would take the Premier League players, broadcasters and media over, quarantine for a week or two and then deliver it in an environment that has proven it can handle this virus.

“There are a couple of hotspots in Europe that haven’t got the disease which could handle the Premier League finishing.

“If they were serious about it and wanted to deliver it with a safe outcome, they could do that. In this country, I’m not sure they can deliver it with the amount of coronavirus which is around, especially with the amount of movement of it out there and the logistic issues. I’m not sure they can deliver what they want to do.”

Is Gary Neville talking sense regarding finishing the Premier League season?

This is not the first time we have heard of the PL season being shifted abroad in a bid to finish the remaining 92 games but clearly this approach has not been able to hold any water.

This time too, Neville’s suggestion has come under heavy fire from former Arsenal star Perry Groves who has slammed this idea.

He told talkSPORT, via Express: “One of these ideas right… there’s three countries that haven’t got COVID-19.

“His idea is to take the Premier League to one of those three countries. How would that work? Why would those countries think ‘yeah bring that pandemic to us’. Even that arrogance of going to another country who hasn’t got it is ridiculous.”

It’s not like Gary Neville is the only who has come up with an out of the box solution to end the 2019-20 season of the Premier League but while the pundit’s idea might not be too fruitful but there’s no denying all the clubs will have to make some major sacrifices in order to finish the campaign.

Maybe not moving to another country but the EPL clubs might have to give up the possibility of playing home games as the remaining games could be played in neutral venues in England.

Also, there have been talks of bringing all the teams under one roof to play out the rest of the season in a World Cup style tournament.
