The 2019-20 season of the Premier League is set to resume from June 17 and earlier this week, the English top division carried out yet another round of testing.

This is the seventh round of testing in amongst the EPL players and staff members and as per the data, this round had the most extensive series of testing with 1,213 samples.

Per the official report released by the Premier League, only one person has tested positive for the disease.

The official statement read: “The Premier League can today confirm that on Monday 8 June and Tuesday 9 June, 1,213 players and club staff were tested for COVID-19. Of these, one has tested positive.

“The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency. No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the League and results will be made public after each round of testing.”

This is major satisfactory news for all the Premier League clubs since from now onwards any player who gets tested positive is sure to miss out on some of the remaining matches.

Also, this is a really crucial time for all the clubs as they are now busy in playing various friendly matches with other lower league sides meaning more intensive screening is required.

Just 48 hours ago, Man United had to cancel their friendly against Stoke City after manager Michael O’Neill had tested positive.

So far this is the only positive case amongst the teams indulging in friendly matches while others like Chelsea and Arsenal have been hosting matches in their own training facilities.

Previous test results in the Premier League:

Round 1: 17-18 May – 748 tested, with six testing positive from three clubs.
Round 2: 19-22 May – 996 tested, with two testing positive from two clubs.
