Manchester United and Arsenal are both in desperate need of a new central defender for the upcoming season and it seems they have made contact with Presnel Kimpembe.

Presnel Kimpembe is a youth product of the PSG academy and this past season, the 23-year-old was a key figure in defence for the Ligue 1 side.

During the 2018-19 season, the defender played in 24 league games for the Parisian outfit and if things so as planned then Presnel Kimpembe could be playing in the Premier League next campaign.

As per the Metro, “Arsenal and Manchester United have made contact over the potential signing of Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe, reports say.

“Kimpembe, 23, is a regular at PSG and played under Unai Emery when he was in charge at the club. Emery is a big fan of the centre-back and according to France Football, holds Kimpembe in ‘high esteem’.

“Arsenal have asked for information about Kimpembe’s availability this summer, but so too has their Premier League rivals, United.”

Unai Emery is very much aware with Presnel Kimpembe from his time as the manager of PSG and with Shkodran Mustafi reportedly heading for greener pastures this summer, the PSG defender could be the ideal replacement.

Solskjaer too is looking to bring in some fresh pair of legs in defence and the Red Devils are more than willing to compete against Arsenal for Kimpembe.

It is still unclear whether Presnel Kimpembe would want to take a step down and play in the Europa League next season but if he does then it should be Man United and not Arsenal who will have the upper hand in the deal.

The Gunners only have around 45 million pounds to spend this summer and reports claim that PSG could demand around 50 million for Kimpembe which right now can only be afforded by Manchester United.

But if the North London side can manage to gather funds from the sale of the likes of Ozil and Lucas Torriera then Unai Emery’s side will once again be back in the hunt for Presnel Kimpembe.
