Sadio Mane was a key figure for Liverpool last season helping the Reds pick up the Champions League trophy by beating Spurs at the Metropolitano.

Sadio Mane took a back seat during the 2017-18 season as Mo Salah became the star of the show but this past campaign the winger once again proved his worth.

He played in 50 games for Liverpool during the 2018-19 season, and he ended the campaign with 26 goals along with 5 assists.

And the Senegal fans are hoping that the 27-year-old can manage to bring this fine form in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Senegal beat Tanzania in the first group game but Sadio Mane missed the game due to suspension.

He is expected to return back for their second match vs Algeria but some of his comments before this game might not go down too well with the Liverpool fans.

Sadio Mane in a recent interview claimed that he would be ready to swap his Champions League success in order to win the AFCON.

“To win for my country, which has never won a Cup of Nations, would be magnificent. I am even ready to trade in my Champions League success to win the Africa Cup of Nations,” Mane told France Football(as reported).

“The return to Dakar (with the trophy) would be extraordinary. That is my craziest dream,

“It’s up to us to achieve something grand,

“Of course we are among the favourites, we cannot hide from that. But this status is not enough to ensure that we go through to the end.”

After this statement, there has been a certain amount of uproar from the Liverpool fans who have claimed that Sadio Mane does not really value the importance of the Champions League.
