Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been heavily linked with a move to Derby County this summer transfer window.

Steven Gerrard took charge of the Gers last season and even though he did not win any silverware the former Liverpool man did manage to pull the Teddy Bears out of the hole that they had been stuck in for the past couple of seasons.

And most pundits believe that the Gers should be able to really challenge their Old Firm rivals this season for the Premiership title.

But now with Frank Lampard leaving Derby in order to head back to Chelsea, it is being claimed that Steven Gerrard is the man likely to replace him.

Chelsea have been given permission to hold talks with Frank Lampard which means the announcement is only a matter of time. And Derby are expected to make a move for the Rangers boss soon after.

Recently though, Steven Gerrard was asked about the interest from Derby County to which he said“Yes, I’m aware of it. But there’s nothing to say on it.

“I’m very happy to be the Rangers manager. My focus is on the up and coming season.

“I think it’s very similar to when there’s noise around players. I ask the players to stay focused on the job.

“Nothing has changed in my mind. I was very lucky and appreciative of the offer that I got twelve months ago.

“I came in very focused in season one and nothing has changed in my mind.

“I’m delighted to be the Rangers manager. I’m managing one of the biggest football clubs you can manage. Nothing has changed.”

Under normal circumstances, Steven Gerrard should not vacate his chair at Rangers and take charge of Derby especially when he has every chance of winning a silverware next season.

But some fans fear that an opportunity to manage an English club might just be too hard for the former England international to resist.
