Rangers vs Leipzig

Rangers FC currently have Alfredo Morelos and Umar Sadiq as their two recognized striker but the manager is trying hard to bring in one more striker before the end of the season.

Steven Gerrard has looked at a number of options during the summer transfer window and recently it was being believed that Hearts striker Kyle Lafferty was on his way to the Ibrox.

But now reports are suggesting that the Light Blues are planning to bring in Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack.

McCormack who is a youth product of Rangers spent the last season out on loan to Melbourne City in the Australian League and it seems that Villans are willing to send him out on loan yet again.

Aston Villa have told Ross McCormack that he can move out of the club by the end of this month and the Championship side are also willing to cover almost all of his £40,000-a-week wages.

Rangers are said to be interested in signing the striker and Gerrard wants to use his experience in order to cover for the relatively young duo of Umar Sadiq and Alfredo Morelos.

But getting him will not be a cakewalk as Ross McCormack is not too interested in moving back to Scotland and wants to stay in England for the new season.

This might prove a huge roadblock for the Gers because Sunderland are also said to be pursuing the 31-year-old.

Having said that though, if Rangers do push a little hard for Ross McCormack it should be a really difficult job to land him in Glasgow given that they are a top-tier club in Scotland while Sunderland currently play in the third tier of English football.

On the other hand, several reports during the weekend had suggested that the Light Blues were close to signing Kyle Lafferty and the deal was expected to be wrapped up by Tuesday. But ever since the Hearts manager has claimed that Lafferty is not close to joining the Gers, all those rumours have died down a bit.
