Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard is currently looking to add one more defender amongst his ranks despite spending heavily on players like Katic and Goldson.

While the Gers have brought in a number of centre-backs and fullbacks during the summer transfer window but the reality is that a lot of players have also moved out of the club during this time.

The Old Firm club have already released Bruno Alves last week who went back to the Serie A in order to join Parma while another centre-back Fabio Cardoso is also expected to vacate his locker room before the start of the new season.

Cardoso has been a big flop and he only managed to play 11 games during the whole of last season and is expected to be offloaded.

So in such a scenario, Steven Gerrard needs a backup defender who can fill in for Goldson and Katic as and when necessary and it seems that the Gers boss has set his eyes on Blackpool defender Curtis Tilt.

Tilt joined Blackpool last summer from Wexham and the centre-back has already garnered a lot of praise during his first season with the League One side.

Curtis Tilt has already played 43 games for Blackpool during the 2017-18 season and Steven Gerrard has reportedly sent out scouts to watch the 26-year-old in action.

According to the Daily Mirror, while Rangers were playing their Europa League qualifying clash vs FC Shkupi in Macedonia, Steven Gerrard had Curtis Tilt watched when Blackpool played a friendly against Burnley behind closed doors.

Rangers have been in pursuit of Milwall defender Jake Cooper for some time now and have already seen two bids being rejected – the last one was rumoured to be in the region of £3 million.

Now though it seems that Steven Gerrard has shifted his focus to Curtis Tilt who is a much cheaper option at around £1 million.

But if the Gers are seriously chasing Curtis Tilt then they might be in for a fight as Ipswich Town are also interested in the 26-year-old defender.
