Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard has already made six new signings(as and when this article was published) during his short managerial regime at Ibrox and the noise in Govan is that he is planning to make a real masterstroke.

If reports are to be believed then Rangers are planning to lure in Manchester City youngster Phil Foden on a season-long loan.

Foden is undoubtedly one of the brightest young talents to come out of the Manchester City academy and even Pep Guardiola holds him in high regards.

Phil Foden made five appearances for Manchester City in the league during the 2017-18 season and in turn became the youngest player in history to receive an EPL medal.

But the fact of the matter is that the youngster still has a couple of more seasons before he can become a regular at the Etihad.

And by the looks of it, Rangers are planning to bring him to Ibrox with the bait that he can get regular first-team football.

Rangers’ director of football Mark Allen is expected to pull a few strings in order to make the deal happen given his close ties with the Manchester club and the Gers are also banking on the fact that Phil Foden will be tempted to move out of his parent club at the prospect of working with Steven Gerrard.

If a move does happen then it will surely be for a season-long loan which given the talent that the youngster possesses will be nothing short of a masterstroke.

Having said all this, the move can only be sanctioned by City boss Pep Guardiola who has always maintained that Phil Foden is an asset to his first-team squad and has every chance of breaking into the first eleven during the 2018-19 season.
