Up until now most of the new decisions that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has made have been top notch and there has been little room for arguments. But his latest decision has raised a lot of eyebrows.

After the pre-season training, Steven Gerrard has reportedly told goalkeeper Wes Foderingham that he is not a guaranteed starter next season.

The Gers have signed Allan McGregor this summer which was an immediate indication that Foderingham’s place infront of the sticks is not a given anymore.

But the development of Jak Alnwick has posed an even bigger problem for Foderingham who has reportedly been told by Steven Gerrard that he will now become the third choice keeper at Ibrox.

Wes Foderingham joined the Light Blues in the summer of 2015 and since then the 27-year-old has played 100 games in all competitions.

The report claims that Gerrard has made up his mind and is willing to listen to offers for the goalkeeper during the coming few weeks.

Now we had a hint that the arrival of Allan McGregor is not good news for Wes Foderingham given the fact that Allan is a much more experienced and seasoned campaigner who will bring a sense of calm to the defence.

But pushing the 27-year-old down to third place is surely something that many people did not see coming.

On the other hand, given the fact that Rangers have already spent a ton of money in the transfer market and are expected to make a couple of more signings, selling Wes Foderingham for that much-needed cash might not be a very bad move.
