Former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard was appointed as the new Rangers manager early on this summer and since then the former Champions League winner has made an array of signings at Ibrox.

Gerrard has brought in more than half a dozen signings in just a short period of time and more players are expected to join in before the new season kicks off.

Amongst the players that have moved to Ibrox, two of them(John Flanagan and Ovie Ejaria) are from his former club. And now if reports are to be believed then Steven Gerrard is planning to make a third signing from Liverpool.

According to the various reports doing the rounds in Scotland, Rangers seem to be the favourites to land out-of-favour Liverpool forward Danny Ings.

Danny Ings was tipped for greatness after having two successful seasons with Burnley and Liverpool wasted no time in signing him up during the summer of 2015.

But ever since his move to Anfield, Ings’ career graph has nose-dived and the player has struggled to get game time.

Two major knee injuries have halted the player’s career and during his three seasons at Liverpool, the 25-year-old has made only 25 appearances for the Reds.

Steven Gerrard is keen to sign up the player given the fact that the attacking department is the only place that the Gers manager needs to reinforce before the new season and Ings is keen to move out of Liverpool in order to get more game time.

Reports claim that Jurgen Klopp does not wish to part ways with the forward but the German has also made it clear that if Danny Ings wants to move out, the club will not stand in his way.

But Rangers under no circumstances will have an easy acquisition of Ings because Southampton too are interested in the forward.

If Southampton’s interest in Danny Ings is serious then the Gers are going to have a hard time trying to convince the forward to move to Scotland because playing in the Premier League will surely be a much lucrative offer for the 25-year-old.
