Rangers FC drew their second leg of the Europa League qualifying clash vs FC Shkupi and with that progressed to the second round winning the two-legged tie with an aggregate scoreline of 2-0.

The Gers went to Macedonia with a 2 goals lead from the first leg at Ibrox but Gerrard side were unable to add to their tally on Tuesday night.

While the hosts posed no threat whatsoever, but the Light Blues failed to carve open Shkupi and now Gerrard has voiced some major concerns with his first-team setup.

Speaking after the game the Rangers boss claimed that even though his defensive line did a fantastic job but they needed to be more strong while going in attack

Talking to Rangers TV, Steven Gerrard said: “I’m a bit mixed right now,

“We’re pleased with one side of the game but there is certainly a hell of a lot of work to do on the other side.

“Out of possession we were good, our shape was good. We were aggressive and I’m pleased with the clean sheet.

“I thought (goalkeeper) Allan McGregor and my two centre-backs (Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic) were outstanding.

“Shkupi got one real chance on goal late on which we will look at, but our game management was really good.

“We handled everything that was put at us bar that one chance.

“So there is definitely a base there for how we want to look away from home. It’s a platform to build on.

“But I’m disappointed with us in possession for the first 30 minutes. I don’t think we passed the ball well enough, and throughout the game, there was a serious lack of quality in the final third.

“There are things I’m pleased with, but I am concerned about the lack of quality in the final third.”

And this statement from the Light Blues manages come right when multiple reports have claimed that the club are planning to bring in another forward before the start of the new season.

Rangers are said to be looking at Liverpool failure Divock Origi while some claim that Gerrard had made contact with Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez in the hopes of signing Ivan Toney.

Now that Eduardo Herrera has moved out Scotland, Rangers have fallen critically short upfront which was clearly evident during their game vs FC Shkupi. So now Steven Gerrard will have to push his board and try and bring in a new forward.
