Rangers FC have signed close to a dozen players during the summer transfer window and it’s no secret that Steven Gerrard has tried his best to strengthen his defence for the new season.

The manager has brought in a number of defenders as well as midfielders during the summer but the club still needs to sign a third striker before the transfer window shuts down at the end of this month.

The Light Blues currently have Alfredo Morelos and Umar Sadiq as their two recognized strikers and multiple reports have claimed that Gerrard is close to signing Kyle Lafferty from Hearts in the coming few days.

But if the current gossip is anything to go by then the Gers will have to bring in more than one striker before the end of August.

According to a report from Sky Sports, French club Bordeaux is after Alfredo Morelos.

Morelos has been the first choice striker for Steven Gerrard during the first couple of games of the new season but Bordeaux have reportedly held initial talks to bring the 22-year-old to France.

Morelos signed from HJK Helsinki in the summer of 2017 for £1.5m and Sky are suggesting that Bordeaux have made an initial bid of £3.75 million.

But Gerrard though has no interest in selling off the Colombian and has immediately rejected the bid for Alfredo Morelos.

There’s no confirmation if Bordeaux will be returning with an improved bid but this though is not the first time that the Light Blues have rejected an offer for Alfredo Morelos as the club had turned down a £2.6 million bid from Fenerbahce last month.

Morelos had been one of the shining lights for Rangers in an otherwise poor 2017-18 season where he managed to bag 18 goals in 43 games. Steven Gerrard clearly knows the importance of the striker especially when he has only no one else as a backup right now.
