Real Madrid have had a really poor 2018-19 season – both in Europe as well as domestically which is enough indication that Florentino Perez is planning to splash heavy money this summer.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has reportedly drawn up a huge transfer wishlist which contains the names of some of the best players in the world. Namely Paul Pogba and Eden Hazard.

The Los Blancos have been heavily linked with both these players and right now it is more or less certain that the Chelsea winger is on his way to Real Madrid.

Reports have also claimed that Zidane wants Man United’s Paul Pogba to be his midfield general next season and there is also a big enough chance that Ole might choose to release the Frenchman.

Having said that though, some experts claim that Real Madrid just cannot afford to spend so much money during a single transfer window.

But Los Blancos expert Phil Kitromilides has now revealed why this might not hold true.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Real Madrid TV presenter Phil Kitromilides said: “Paul Pogba is a player that Zinedine Zidane has publicly said he likes, and he doesn’t normally go into how much he likes players when he’s asked about them, so a lot of people read quite a bit into his comments.

“He is a player who, certainly from a PR perspective, would go down well with a section of fans who are asking for blockbuster signings after what has been a very disappointing season for Real Madrid.

“They finished third in LaLiga, 19 points behind Barcelona, and went out of the Champions League and Copa del Rey. They haven’t won anything and fans are demanding signings.

“With Pogba, I don’t know where he might fit in on the pitch, because Real Madrid also have quite a lot of good midfielders.

“But in terms of that PR exercise, he would be a big, big name and would probably cost a lot of money as well. It might be something Real Madrid are looking for in terms of getting those headlines out: ‘We are back, we are spending money again’.

“It’s been a while since Real Madrid actually splashed a lot of cash.

“They have been spending €30m and €40m here and there, but they haven’t really broken the bank since Gareth Bale signed in 2013.

“They could sign a lot of players in one window, they could spend a lot of money.”
