Real Madrid beat Sevilla 4-1 as they inched one step closer to winning the La Liga. But the match has a few controversial talking points.

The first major talking point of the match came in the 10 minute after Real Madrid took a lead through a controversial free kick. Asensio was fouled just outside the box and as the Sevilla players were regrouping Nacho took a quick free kick. But to everyone’s disbelief, the referee allowed the goal to stand as he pointed towards the half way line.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace on the night against Sevilla. The first goal was a simple tap-in after the Sevilla goalkeeper failed to get the ball out of the danger area. The second though was right out of the top drawer. He curled one in with his left foot and the ball dipped and swerved into the top left-hand corner of the goal.

Toni Kroos scored the fourth goal for Real Madrid six minutes before the final whistle as he secured all the three points for Real on the night.

The scoreline of the match though does not speak volumes about how it went by. Sevilla did not just lie down and let Real walk over them. Sevilla scored only one goal on the night. But unlikely they had two chances that hit the frame of the goal. They also managed to build up some good moves all throughout the match.

But in the end, it is the scoreline that really matters. Zidane’s men have picked up all the three points and they now only need just four points from their remaining two fixtures.
