Rekeem Harper is one of the most talked about youngster this summer in the Scottish transfer circuit with Celtic being linked with the midfielder.

The 19-year-old has come up through the ranks at West Brom and last season he had an impressive season with the Baggies.

During the 2018-19 Championship season, the central midfielder played in 30 games across all competitions for West Brom, scoring 3 and assisting one goal.

Rekeem Harper’s contract with the Baggies expired at the end of last month and it is more or less certain that he will not be heading back to the club.

Last month the Daily Record had reported: “Harper is out of contract this month and has failed to agree a new deal at the Hawthorns.

“Slaven Bilic has made convincing the youngster to stay a top priority after taking over at the Baggies.

“But it appears the player has his heart set on a new challenge with the Mirror reporting Juve are “hopeful” of winning the race to his signature.”

At one point in time, it was being claimed that Celtic are favourites to sign Rekeem Harper but a lot has changed since.

West Brom have reportedly offered a new contract to the midfielder after the player held talks with Bilic and there is a big possibility that he could remain at the Hawthorns.

Also, Rekeem Harper has been linked with teams like Spurs and Liverpool meaning Celtic have fallen down the pecking order.

Now though, Football Insider are claiming that the Bhoys have not given up hope on the player and are willing to offer him a ‘bumper contract’.

Rekeem Harper is available on a free transfer and Celtic will only have to pay a development fee to West Brom meaning they can afford to offer the youngster big wages.

It is still unclear what the 19-year-old will do but Neil Lennon’s side have surely upped their chances of signing him by tabling the new and improved offer.
