Celtic have been keeping tabs on 19-year-old midfielder Rekeem Harper for a couple of months now and at one point the Bhoys were considered favourites to sign the youngster.

Rekeem Harper has come up through the ranks at West Brom and last season he had an impressive season with the Baggies.

During the 2018-19 Championship season, the central midfielder played in 30 games across all competitions for West Brom, scoring 3 and assisting one goal.

Rekeem Harper is out of contract at West Brom at the end of this month and it is more or less certain that he would be heading out of the club.

Up until last month, Celtic were the only team really interested in signing him but then suddenly Liverpool came into the picture as Jurgen Klopp is reportedly looking to bring in a couple of reinforcements.

This naturally made the job much tougher for Neil Lennon but he was still confident that Rekeem Harper would choose Celtic over Liverpool since he would get guaranteed game time at Celtic Park.

Now though, if reports are to be believed then Juventus too have joined the race to sign the 19-year-old which is enough for the Bhoys to hit the panic button.

The Daily Record reported: “Harper is out of contract this month and has failed to agree a new deal at the Hawthorns.

“Slaven Bilic has made convincing the youngster to stay a top priority after taking over at the Baggies.

“But it appears the player has his heart set on a new challenge with the Mirror reporting Juve are “hopeful” of winning the race to his signature.”

If the Old Lady are really interested in Rekeem Harper then there is very little that Celtic can do to lure him in.

Some experts still believe that the Glasgow outfit will be able to sign the midfielder since just like Liverpool, Juventus too will not be able to give him regular game time.

But since Rekeem Harper is available as a free agent, his wages will surely be a big deciding factor – and here Celtic will most certainly fall short.
