Arsenal have made a bid for Celtic’s Kieran Tierney earlier this week but it was rejected by the Bhoys – as per reports.

The Gunners initially made an offer of around £15 million which is nowhere close to what the Glasgow outfit have been demanding for the left-back(around £25 million).

While most pundits are sure that Unai Emery’s side will return with a refreshed bid but according to some experts, Celtic will be very stubborn in this transfer deal.

And that is according to Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk.

Celtic sold off Van Dijk to Southampton four years ago for a fee of around £13 million but the Saints bagged £75 million from his transfer to Anfield.

And according to TalkSport’s David Connolly, the Bhoys will not be making the same mistake when it comes to Kieran Tierney.

“Look at some of the players that have left Celtic in the past,” said Connolly(as reported).

“For example Van Dijk – when he left for Saints for about £13m – in the end he’s gone to Liverpool for £75m-odd.

“I’m not saying Kieran Tierney is going to be the same, but £15m isn’t a lot for a player of his quality.

“I’m sure Celtic will be saying ‘you’ve got to pay his market value’, which is near enough at least double that, I would’ve thought.”

Van Dijk is right now the best centre-back in the world and the Celtic management obviously have nightmares realising the fact that they let him leave for such a cheap transfer fee.

And much like Van Dijk, Tierney too is beaming with talent which is why the Bhoys are adamant that Keiran Tierney will not be heading to London until Arsenal are willing to pay £25 million for the young left-back.
