Premiership club Rangers FC are interested in signing Liverpool’s young centre-forward Rhian Brewster on a loan deal for the 2020-21 season.
The 20-year-old is currently spending time with Swansea City having joined them during the January transfer window. And as per some rumours, the player has highly impressed the coaching staff at Swansea which is why Steven Cooper wants to hold onto him for one more campaign.
While Rangers will not have any problem in agreeing on a loan deal with Liverpool but some experts believe, Swansea City could be a hindrance which the Gers might not be able to overcome.
This surely remains a major headache for the Teddy Bears but Noel Whelan thinks Steven Gerrard is the trump card for the Scottish club, one which will help lure Rhian Brewster in next season.
Whelan told Football Insider: “I do, I do. I think you’ve got to be careful with a 20-year-old striker anyway, I think you’ve got to manage them.
“You’ve got to get them used to the Scottish Premiership – it’s completely different, it really is. It’s a little bit more hit and run, probably a bit less football played because you’re coming up against teams that don’t have the players that Rangers and Celtic do in terms of that ability on the ball.
“He’s going to have to get used to that but yeah, absolutely.
“The thing is Steven Gerrard knows this player from his time at Liverpool anyway so he’s got that added advantage. He knows how to manage young players, he’s been one himself and he’ll definitely make him feel more comfortable because he knows him.”
Brewster is one of the most talked-about youngsters in the English circuit right now and adding him to the squad will be a big up for Rangers FC in the pursuit of that elusive Premiership title.
But some rumours claim that Rhian Brewster will only be inclined towards joining the Scottish club if they sell Alfredo Morelos in the summer. Or else he will be more than happy to remain in Wales next season.
