Tottenham Hotspur came out 1-0 winners during their Premier League game against West Ham United this past weekend.

It was another poor show from Manuel Pellegrini’s side at the London Stadium and a solitary goal from Erik Lamela was enough to seal the three points for the Lilywhites.

The game did not have too many talking points – or so we thought.

The referee brandished three yellow cards all of which went to West Ham United players. Midfielders Mark Noble, Robert Snodgrass and forward Marko Arnautovic were the men who went into the book.

But one of them could have easily gotten a straight red.

We are talking about Robert Snodgrass and his cheeky tackle on Spurs player Lucas Moura which was completely unnoticed by referee Martin Atkinson.

Snodgrass made a crunching tackle on Mour’s shin but the referee chose to ignore the tackle and let the game move on.

But clearly, though the tackle was a naughty one and former Spurs man Danny Murphy feels, Robert Snodgrass should have been given the marching orders.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Murphy said: “You can’t like this type of tackle. He’s running too fast, Lucas Moura is lucky he doesn’t do more damage, it’s a naughty tackle.

“He’s lucky to get away with it, it’s a red card, I don’t know how he [Martin Atkinson] hasn’t given a free-kick or even a yellow, for me, it’s a red.

“Sometimes they do look nasty in slow motion, for me that was naughty, he was lucky to stay on.”

West Ham United take on Leicester City away from home next weekend while Spurs while Spurs welcome Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at home.
