Brendan Rodgers has left Celtic FC to join Leicester City as their new manager and the Neil Lennon has been appointed as the interim boss until the end of the season.

While most of the Celtic fans are still busy processing all the information but according to former Ranger man Charlie Adam, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard could see a potential opportunity here.

Until Brendan Rodgers was in charge of Celtic, the Bhoys were the outright favourites to win the Premiership this season.

But now, the situation has changed.

While Celtic still on top of the table but there is a huge possibility that Neil Lennon might take a few weeks to get everything into his stride.

And Adam feels, this is where the Gers will capitalize.

The Stoke midfielder told talkSPORT: “The timing is the thing that Celtic fans will be disappointed with.

“They would’ve expected him to wait until the end of the season when another Treble looks on the cards.

“Rangers will smell blood here. They’ll think, ‘Are the players focused? Is there a little bit of doubt in their minds?’

“They might have an opportunity to get back into the title race and the Scottish Cup.

“They’ve got a massive game in March and anything can happen.  At the moment, Celtic are eight points clear and they are clear favourites.”

Celtic face the likes of Aberdeen and Rangers next month and these games will give a fair image as to what will happen to the Bhoys’ hopes of winning the Premiership.

Having said that though, Steven Gerrard will have to ensure that his players keep picking up maximum points in order to stay in the loop.
