Manchester United beat Cardiff City 5-1 at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday and with that the Red Devils ensured that the fans had a happy Christmas.

Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Ander Herrera all scored a goal apiece while Jesse Lingard scored a brace to earned a rather easy three points.

Paul Pogba ended the game with a couple of assists and the Frenchman looked perfectly on song after returning back to the first eleven.

Solskjaer chose to go with a very attacking lineup with Marcus Rashford up infront and Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard on either front.

But this was just the teamsheet as the caretaker boss had clearly given his attackers the freedom to roam around and interchange positions at will.

While each and every United player had a big part to play during the win but some fans were left wondering as to why Romelu Lukaku did not even make it to the matchday squad.

Some thought that the new boss was not impressed by what he had seen of Romelu Lukaku but that actually is not the case.

Romelu Lukaku have been on a compassionate leave during the past couple of days as a result of which the Belgium international was not available for selection on Saturday.

It has also been confirmed that the striker will also be absent for the Boxing Day clash vs Huddersfield meaning Marcus Rashford will hopefully start up front once again.

Romelu Lukaku without a doubt is the weakest link in the attacking department right now and by the time the Belgian returns back to club duty, he could very well fall down the pecking order under Solksjaer.

Man United will take on Huddersfield at home on Boxing Day and then hit the road to take on AFC Bournemouth in what will be the last game for the Red Devils in 2018.
