Cristiano Ronaldo secured a monumental move to Juventus a couple of days ago ending his nine-year association with Real Madrid.

After battling with Lionel Messi on the Spanish turf, Cristiano Ronaldo finally decided to move to Italy and many claim that this will be his final flurry before he retires from professional football.

And former Manchester United teammate, Ryan Giggs feels that it is this never-ending battle with Lionel Messi that led him to move out of Spain.

Giggs said: “I’m surprised that he would leave Real Madrid and go to Italy,

“I think it’s a big challenge for him but he’s going to a huge club. Having that on your CV: Real Madrid, Man United, Juventus – it’s some CV.

“He’s obsessed with being better than Messi. He has that now, that, ‘I did it in England, I did it in Spain, I’m going to do it in Italy … I did it with Portugal.’

“So maybe that will be his argument when [he asks himself]: ‘Am I better than Messi?'”

From the days Cristiano Ronaldo joined Real Madrid there has been this constant debate of Messi vs Ronaldo but it seems that after winning three Champions League trophies back to back, the Portuguese needed a new and fresher challenge.

Ronaldo is 33 years old and most footballers at their age tend to move to either the United States or China. But the Portuguese has chosen to join a top-rated Serie A side which just goes to show that the five-time Ballon d’Or is still hungry for more.
