Ryan Jack will miss the Villarreal game

Rangers FC take on NK Maribor in the third qualifying of the Europa League on Thursday night and before the game, the Gers have a number of issues that they need to sort.

The first major issue will be in the striking department after Alfredo Morelos got a red card on Sunday against Aberdeen.

Rangers will surely challenge the red card decision but as things stand he will not be available for the club’s next Scottish league game.

So Morelos will surely feature against Maribor in midweek which is a bit of an issue since Gerrard’s other striker Umar Sadiq is yet to reach full fitness.

Sadiq will have to fresh for next Sunday’s game against St Mirren meaning Alfredo Morelos will have to play the full 90 minutes in midweek.

And if this was not enough, Steven Gerrard has revealed that his might be without the presence of Ryan Jack against Maribor.

Jack suffered a head injury during Rangers’ draw against Aberdeen and how the manager has cast doubts over his participation in the Europa League clash.

Gerrard said“The games are coming up thick and fast – and the punishment for doing well in Europe is the schedule gets even more packed. That is the reason why we need a big squad and players available to step in when needed.

“We have an issue with Ryan Jack now as well, so we will need to check on him. First and foremost, he was fantastic before the injury.

“I think it is a head injury, so we will go and get that checked out.”

Rangers take on Maribor on Thursday after which they welcome St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership next Sunday.
