Arsenal boss Unai Emery has so far made five signings during the summer transfer window but the club are still looking to bring in a couple of new players.

And in that list, Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi’s name ranks the highest.

The defensive midfielder has been on the radar of the Gunners for a couple of months now but Sevilla seem to be holding out for a price of £35 million.

If the La Liga club would have quoted the price at the beginning of the transfer window then it would not have been an issue for Unai Emery but as things stand the Arsenal boss has exhausted all his transfer budget in making those five signings.

And now when the Gunners are scrambling to gather funds, reports suggest that AS Roma have become the favourites to sign Steven N’Zonzi.

Sunday a reputed publication in Italy had claimed that the 29-year-old had agreed on a deal with Roma but as things stand N’Zonzi’s heart is still with Arsenal.

Fresh reports are now suggested that Steven N’Zonzi is yet to finalize anything with the Serie A side as he is waiting for a call from Arsenal.

The Gunners, on the other hand, are offloading players at a brisk rate in order to gather funds for the transfer.

But with the Premier League transfer window closing on Thursday, Arsenal might just have left it a bit too late for the signing to go through.

The London outfit are ready to sell off players like Lucas Perez and Danny Welbeck in the coming few hours and the club are also looking for a buyer for midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

This process of accumulating £35 million and then moving for Steven N’Zonzi might prove a bit too risky and the midfielder can change his mind at any time and head for Italy.
