Rangers FC have been chasing Ryan Kent for some time now and it looks like Steven Gerrard has received another setback in the signing of the winger.

At the start of the summer, a number of clubs were interested in signing Ryan Kent but one by one all of them pulled out leaving Rangers are the only club who wanted the youngster.

Now though Football Insider are claiming that Leeds United have reignited their interest in the winger.

The report suggests: “Leeds United have reignited their interest in Liverpool attacker Ryan Kent with his expected transfer to Glasgow Rangers yet to materialise, Football Insider can reveal.

“A Leeds source has told Football Insider that the club are back in the running to land the 22-year-old after holding new talks via third parties over the possibility of a season-long loan.”

Marco Bielsa wanted to sign Ryan Kent last month too but he pulled out thinking Jurgen Klopp had made up his mind to send the lad to Scotland for yet another season.

Now though, Kent is still very much a part of Liverpool’s pre-season squad which has led many people to believe that the Liverpool boss might not be looking to send him out.

Barry Ferguson wrote“He took to Rangers like a duck to water and as a result of his performance level over the season, he’s now about to fly out with Klopp’s Champions League winning squad on a summer tour of the USA.

“He proved to his manager he is cut out to make the difference in big matches under intense pressure and that’s exactly what Klopp will be looking for when he’s considering promoting youngsters into his dressing room.

“So it’s no wonder that he wants to take a close look at Kent this summer before deciding if he’s ready to become part of the plans for the new season.

“Klopp will be comparing him to the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri over the next couple of weeks and weighing up if the time is right to give him a chance.”

But it is highly unlikely that Klopp will try and hold onto Kent now that Leeds United too are back in the hunt for him.

Obviously, Rangers are still the favourites to land the winger but Steven Gerrard would be helpless if Ryan Kent chooses to stay in England for the upcoming season.
