West Ham United lost their previous Premier League encounter to Everton 2-0 as Manuel Pellegrini decided to make a number of changes to his first XI.

The likes of Lucas Perez and Pedro Obiang got starts while many key first-team players were pushed to the bench.

But what shocked many people was the absence of midfielder Samir Nasri and Felipe Anderson – both of whom were not even named in the matchday squad.

The duo’s omission raised a lot of eyebrows before the game and now we finally know why Samir Nasri and Felipe Anderson did not play vs the Toffees.

“We are not looking at next season at this moment, that is why I won’t talk about not only Nasri but any other players,” the West Ham manager said.

“I forgot to tell you about injuries, Samir has a problem in his calf this week so he might not be able to play.

“We will decide the squad for next season after this one.”

Samir Nasri joined the Hammers on a six-month loan spell during the January transfer window but it is still unsure whether the Frenchman would be given a new deal at the end of the season.

As far as Felipe Anderson is concerned the attacking midfielder missed the Everton clash due to an ankle injury.

But recent reports have claimed that the injury is minor and the Brazilian should be fully fit when Everton take on Chelsea next week in the Premier League.
