Celtic FC won the latest Old Firm Derby beating Rangers 2-1 at Celtic Park.

The game was a typical Glasgow derby one which saw two red cards and a fine late goal.

Celtic took the lead early on in the game and just when the Gers were regrouping, Alfredo Morelos was sent off for elbowing Scott Brown.

Then after the final whistle, it was Andy Halliday who was shown red for getting into a scuffle with Scott Brown.

So naturally, after the game, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard suggested the Celtic captain chose to wind up the likes of Morelos and Halliday as a result of which, he too should be punished.

But now Scott Brown’s teammate Callum McGregor has come out to defend his captain.

Callum McGregor defended captain Scott Brown saying: “I don’t think Scott did anything wrong…he was basically assaulted twice in the game for a bit of mind games…that’s nothing for anyone to speak about Scott, it’s for the other side

“If you can provoke people or do things to get an advantage it’s fair game…it was never a specific tactic. Scott actually never did anything wrong”

While there is no direct evidence of Scott Brown foul mouthing Morelos but given the rivalry between the two clubs, we wouldn’t be shocked if this was the case.

But then again to come out in defence of the Celtic midfielder, this is not the first time that Alfredo Morelos has been shown a red card for getting into a tussle with an opponent.

So naturally there is a weakness and if you do not expect someone like Scott Brown to exploit it then surely you are living in dreamland.
