Scott McTominay has been a stellar figure at Manchester United during the current season but the midfielder picked up a knock during the club’s win vs Brighton. And now it looks like the player could be out for a significant amount of time.

McTominay went down holding his ankle during the last few minutes of the match and it had been reported that despite not leaving the pitch on a stretcher, the Scottish international opted for one once he went inside the tunnel.

Initially, it was reported the player has picked up an ankle injury and only a scan will be able to give the correct timeframe for his return back to full fitness.

Now that the scan has been done, Man United are still unsure as to when Scott McTominay will return back to action.

Man United said[as reported]: “hope that, with treatment, the 22-year-old will be available again soon”

While the club are uncertain about his return Ole Gunnar Solskjaer though has revealed that he had suffered a similar injury and it might just take Scott McTominay around 2 months to make a full recovery.

“He went over on his ankle. It’s a painful one,” said the United manager.

“I’ve had one and I was out for eight weeks. But then again sometimes you’re back in two weeks, so I don’t know.

“He’s in for a scan tomorrow, but it looked painful and he’s not one for rolling around.”

Scott McTominay has been rock solid in central midfield for Man United and his absence will surely be a huge blow for the manager.

Next up, Man United will take on Sheffield United and while the Scott might not be missed so much during this match but with big games against the likes of Spurs and Man City coming up, Scott McTominay is now facing a race against time in order to be fit and available for selection.
