Barcelona want Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne Man City

Man City have been on a roll since the Premier League season has restarted but now they have been dealt with a huge blow due to the injury to Sergio Aguero.

City beat Burnley 5-0 at home on Monday night and it was during this game that the Argentine was caught by Burnley captain Ben Mee, following which he had to be taken off.

And speaking after the game, Pep Guardiola had outlined the worst, claiming that Sergio Aguero had already been suffering from a knee injury.

“It doesn’t look good. We will see tomorrow exactly what he has but it doesn’t look good for the season,” Guardiola said in his post-match press conference.

“He was struggling the last month with a problem in his knee and now he felt something but it doesn’t look good.

“The doctor says it will take time. A few games [out] for sure but maybe tomorrow the tests he will get good news. We will see.”

And now according to reports, Sergio Aguero underwent further scans on Tuesday and the forward has been ruled out for between five and six weeks.

Guardiola does have a like-to-like replacement in the form of Gabriel Jesus but the injury to Aguero will be a major blow for the City boss especially when the club are still playing in the Champions League.

Chelsea, on the other hand, will be really pleased with this news since no matter how talented Jesus is, the Brazilian comes nowhere close to Sergio Aguero.

Also, Guardiola will have one less option to rotate his players in midweek meaning Gabriel Jesus might have to play the full 90 minutes.

Update:

As per Manchester City, the player will travel to Barcelona for further tests on his damaged left knee.

City wrote on Twitter: “Sergio Aguero suffered damage to his left knee in our recent 5-0 win over Burnley.

“The striker will now travel to Barcelona to see Dr Ramon Cugat for further examination. Everyone at City wishes Sergio the best with his recovery.”
