Man United play their first home after the Premier League resumption this midweek when they welcome Sheffield United.

The Blades have not been able to pick up speed after the restart and in their last match, they suffered a rather shocking 3-0 loss at the hands of Newcastle United. Man United, on the other hand, might not have been clinical but managed to pick up a hard-fought point against Spurs, away from home.

Man United have managed to hold onto their rhythm despite such a prolonged break and adding to that Sheffield’s poor form, Michael Owen believes, it will not be a tough day in the office for the OT outfit.

In his BetVictor column, Owen said: “Manchester United’s point at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Friday means that they are now unbeaten in their last 12 games in all competitions (won eight) and have pretty much picked up where they left off prior to the lockdown.

“Sheffield United on the other hand, will be playing their third game in a week and they certainly haven’t been able to get back to pre-lock-down form.

“Their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United was their biggest loss since losing by a similar score to Middlesbrough back in August 2018.

“Back to back matches without scoring a goal will undoubtedly have knocked the Blades’ confidence and with a relatively small squad to choose from as well as the absence of on-loan keeper Dean Henderson due to the conditions of his loan move.

“I fancy Manchester United to continue their impressive form with a relatively comfortable 2-1 home victory.”

The past two results will undoubtedly be a dent in confidence for Chris Wilder’s men but this is the exact reason why Man United need to be extra cautious against the Blades in midweek.

Sheffield United play some of the finest football in the Premier League and can easily cause problems to Man United’s defensive line if given the chance. So Solskjaer will have to ensure that his players take control of the match from the very first minute or else, by the end of the match, the away side could move above Man United on the Premier League table.
