According to a report by Football Insider, Arsenal will have to spend close around £60 million if they wish to sign Everton’s Amadou Onana.

Everton had paid £33 million to sign the central midfielder from Lille in the summer of 2022 and since then, the Belgian international has become a mainstay in the middle of the pitch for the Toffees, playing more than 50 games across all competitions.

He’s been a stellar performer for Everton but the Goodison Park outfit are ready to part ways with him if Arsenal are ready to shell out £60 million. This is a very legitimate demand from Everton because Onana’s contract expires in 2027 and his current market value is around £44 million.

As per journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Arsenal have intensified talks with Everton and even Amadou Onana is keen to join the North London outfit.

Mikel Arteta is looking to bring in Amadou Onana as the long-term replacement for the injury-prone Thomas Partey and if he can replicate his form from Everton and Lille then the 22-year-old can turn out to be a wonderful signing for the Gunners.

Partey has hardly played this season due to various injuries so signing in a new central midfielder is the need of the hour for the Arsenal manager.

Arsenal have seen a dip in form in the previous few weeks so they need some fresh aces in the squad however Mikel Arteta has admitted his club’s not likely to bring in a new signing in January because they spent heavily during the summer transfer window.

“At the moment it doesn’t look realistic,” he said when asked about reinforcements(as quoted). “My job is to improve our players and get better results with the players we have.”

However, if the Gunners can get rid of some unwanted first-team players then they should be able to gather enough funds to bring in Amadou Onana.

Players like Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson are likely to leave this month and if that happens in time then Arsenal won’t mind spending £60-odd million on the Everton man.
