Sokratis put his name on the scoresheet on Monday as Arsenal beat Portsmouth 2-0 in order to qualify for the next round of the FA Cup.

And right after his fine performance, the 31-year-old tackled questions about his probable exit during the summer transfer window given that he is about to enter the final year of his contract at the Emirates.

“I don’t know,” he replied when asked about his potential exit in the summer, as quoted.

“If I’m not happy, I don’t play enough or the coach doesn’t like me, I don’t care about the contract.

“I have one more year here but me, I never sit on my contract.

“I don’t care. If I’m not happy, I don’t play enough or the coach doesn’t like me, I don’t care about the contract.

“For me, the money is not important, it is important I feel good, I feel happy and the team is happy with me. If not, I take the road and I finish.

“I don’t think about it, I think every day to be happy and help the team and in the end we will see but what I say is that I am not a player who sits on a contract – I don’t need it.”

Sokratis has played in 26 games across all competitions during the current season scoring three goals. And after the arrival of the likes of Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares, rumours have been ripe that the Greek could be on his way out at the end of the season.
