Paul Pogba has played in only seven Premier League games this season and his last appearance for Manchester United was back in December.

The midfielder had first picked up an ankle injury back in September but then on Boxing Day, he had to go through an ankle surgery which is why he is still spending time on the sidelines.

Now though, ESPN are claiming that Paul Pogba has made a good recovery and is expected to return to full training sometime this week.

The report claims: “Paul Pogba will make his return to Manchester United first team training this week, sources have told ESPN.

“The French international, 26, has been sidelined since Dec. 26 as he recovers from surgery on his ankle that followed an injury he first suffered at the end of September. Pogba has played just eight times for United this season, but his return to competitive football looks to be imminent.

“After going through most of his rehabilitation at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex in Dubai, Pogba is back at United’s Carrington training ground.

“Club doctors are happy with the midfielder’s progress and recovery and have given him the go-ahead to resume training.”

Man United are scheduled to take on Manchester City next Sunday and earlier it had been claimed that the player could be fit and available for selection during the Derby.

But given that Paul Pogba is still to return back to training we don’t think the Frenchman has any chance of playing against Pep Guardiola’s men.

While he will not be fit in time for the Derby but there’s every chance that Pogba is named in the matchday squad against Spurs in two weeks time.
