Spurs take on Chelsea in the Premier League in midweek and manager Jose Mourinho will be without some very important players for the key fixture.

Some reports had claimed that Harry Kane could return ahead of time and face Chelsea on Thursday but sadly that will not be the case. Mourinho though is optimistic that the forward could be back to face Everton in the FA Cup next week.

Serge Aurier missed the Brighton game but he will be available for selection against Chelsea but the likes of Dele Alli, Lo Celso and Reguilon will all miss out in midweek.

Jose Mourinho told Spurs TV, as per the club’s official website: “Harry is still out, but I’m very positive that next week he should be back.

“Harry is making good progress, he’s happy with the progress, of course we’re happy too. It’s not optimistic to say next week he should be playing, that should just be the consequence of his good evolution.

“That is not being ultra-optimistic, it’s just the normal evolution. Reguilon is still out, Gio Lo Celso, probably one more month and Dele a few more days, but no-one is coming back for this match.

“Serge is fine, he’s the only player to come back into the group.”

The absence of playing like Kane and Dele Alli means Jose Mourinho will have a wafer-thin forward line and the Spurs boss will have very little scope of rotation.

Bergwijn and Lamela are likely to start up front alongside Son and if they cannot justify their selection then the manager will be devoid of options.

Gareth Bale will be in the match-day squad and is a good option from the bench but the Real Madrid loanee has been of little use to Jose Mourinho ever since his return to the Premier League this season.

Serge Aurier is not likely to get a start against the Blues as Doherty will play as the right wing-back.
