Spurs to miss two first-team players when they face Leicester City: Any issues for Mason?

Spurs still need to secure a European spot and for that to happen, they will need to beat Leicester City in their final league game on Sunday.

The Lilywhites are currently seventh on the Premier League table but a loss against the Foxes could push them to the ninth spot, in which case they will not have European football next season.

Beating Leicester City is going to be an uphill task especially with the kind of form they are in right now and to matter things that bit more difficult, interim coach Ryan Mason will miss two first-team players when Spurs take the pitch on Sunday.

The first one is obviously Ben Davies who has been out for some time now with a shinbone injury and the latest addition to the injury list is Japhet Tanganga who suffered an ankle ligament injury in midweek against Aston Villa as he had to be carried off on a stretcher.

The manager said in his pre-match press conference: “For Japhet, it’s the ligaments in his ankle so that’s him, he won’t be involved in the last game of the season.

“I’m not sure how many weeks it will be (for him to recover) but it was quite a nasty one. Other than him, at the moment, it’s just Ben (Davies).

“He’s returning to some light training so that’s positive for him, but he’s not available for selection for the weekend.”

Thankfully Ryan Mason has Reguilon in his squad so Ben Davies’ absence has not been felt so much this season and with Tanganga missing out, Serge Aurier might be called back into the side on Sunday.

Aurier could be put up for sale at the end of this season which is why some Spurs fans think Mason will put Matt Doherty in the right-back role, the same substitution which happened during happened when Tanganga got injured.

Ryan Mason is not making too many radical changes to his squad so most of the players who featured against Villa will take the field against Leicester City as well and the interim coach will just be hoping that they can come up with a better performance this time.
