The Spurs vs Man City venue has finally been shifted to a new place after the new stadium for the Lilywhites is yet to be completed.

Tottenham Hotspur were scheduled to move into their new stadium at the start of the 2018-19 Premier League season but a number of significant delays have forced Mauricio Pochettino’s side to keep playing their home games at Wembley.

The Spurs management have said that the new stadium should be ready by November but many feel that is not the case since they have rented the Wembley from the FA until the start of the new year.

While the matches against Liverpool and Cardiff have already been shifted to Wembley but the Spurs vs Man City venue was a real cause of concern since Wembley is due to host an NFL game on that very same day.

A number of propositions were put forward with the option of finding a new venue being the most realistic one. But now it seems that the authorities have to put back the match one day.

This means that the game will now be played on Monday, 29 October and Wembley remains the Spurs vs Man City venue.

A Spurs club statement read: “We should like to apologise to both our and Manchester City fans for this fixture having to be moved to a weekday evening and any inconvenience caused,”

“Despite the possibility that our new stadium could be ready to host this match, this would not be known until much closer to the date of the game.

“We have therefore agreed with the Premier League that, in the interests of clarity and certainty, we shall confirm this game as taking place at this time at Wembley Stadium so that fans of both teams can now make travel arrangements accordingly.”

Chairman Daniel Levy said: “We are all focused on ensuring contractors deliver our new stadium in the shortest possible period of time and opening our stadium at the earliest opportunity.

“We are now being regularly updated on progress and as soon as we have confidence in our project managers’ and contractors’ ability to deliver against the revised schedule of works, we shall be able to issue dates for test events and the official opening game.”

How will the game of dates affect Man United?

Since the Spurs vs Man City game has been postponed by a day this means that Manchester United’s game vs Everton will now take up the live TV slot which was originally intended for the Lilywhites games.

So Man United will now play Everton on the 28th of October at 16:00 GMT.
