Rangers FC forward Eduardo Herrera is set to move out of the club in the coming weeks after failing to make an impact during the 2017-18 season and Steven Gerrard has confirmed that the club are already after his replacement.

The Light Blues have been linked with AS Roma striker Umar Sadiq for quite some time now and Steven Gerrard has just gone on to confirm his club’s interest in the 21-year-old.

Gerrard said“We’re a fan of Umar Sadiq but there is nothing to report on that yet in terms of progress but we do like the player.

“We’ll have to see how that one materialises. He’d bring us a forward option – height, power, presence. He’s a player that works too hard believe it or not.

“He does tons and tons of running. He’s very enthusiastic. He’s the type of player who gives you just as much out of possession as he does in possession which is very important.

“We’ve got an interest but at the moment he’s still a Roma player. It’s ongoing. We have to be respectful and see how it progresses but he’s someone we like.”

So far Steven Gerrard has made seven signings since he took charge of Rangers and the boss has brought in new players for every area of the pitch apart from the attacking third.

But now with the interest in the Roma striker, the Gers seem to be heading in the right direction.

Apart from Umar Sadiq, Steven Gerrard is also said to be interested in signing Dominic Solanke from his old club Liverpool.
