Rangers FC have gone through a series of qualifying rounds during the past month and a half in order to qualify for the 2018-19 Europa League group stages and now the Light Blues have finally gotten to know their opponents.

Steven Gerrard’s side have been drawn with Villareal, Rapid Wien and Spartak Moscow in the group stages which might turn out to be a very tricky round of fixtures for the Glasgow outfit.

Talking about the Europa League draw, Steven Gerrard said: “I’m excited by the draw, a lot of big names and a great reward for the hard work of the players.

“We feel like we are building something special here, these are the sort of games we want to be a part of and it will be fantastic for the supporters and the squad.

“When we joined up this was the first goal we set to go and achieve but it’s down to the players who have taken all the tactics and gameplans on board.”

While the manager will be happy that he has been able to bring back European football to the Ibrox which is undoubtedly his first big achievement since taking over during the summer but there’sno denying that the opponents will give Rangers some sleepless nights.

Villareal and Spartak are without a shadow of a doubt top notch clubs who have the arsenal to hurt Rangers very badly and add to that the factor of travelling to Russia for a Thursday night game.

We are not saying it’s impossible but every player will have to pull up their socks if they wish to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.
