The Premier League have finally taken a concrete step as they have accepted to suspend all games until the 3rd of April due to coronavirus fears.
This news comes just after the day when the Premier League had decided to carry forward with all games after the announcement from the British government.
After the EPL decided to move along with the prescribed schedule, there were reports that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta had been tested positive with COVID-19.
And immediately after this, the Premier League chose to hold an emergency meeting and on Friday morning it was decided that the EPL also with the EFL, FA and the WSL will be cancelled at least till the 4th of April.
The official statement released on Friday morning read: “Following a meeting of Shareholders today, it was unanimously decided to suspend the Premier League with the intention of returning on 4 April, subject to medical advice and conditions at the time.
“Despite the challenges, it is the Premier League’s aim to reschedule the displaced fixtures, including those played by Academy sides, when it is safe to do so.
“In this fast-moving environment, further updates will be provided when appropriate.”
Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: “Above all, we wish Mikel Arteta and Callum Hudson-Odoi speedy recoveries, and everyone else affected by COVID-19.
“In this unprecedented situation, we are working closely with our clubs, Government, The FA and EFL and can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority.”

Almost everyone associated with football in England had been urging the authorities to postpone all the major leagues since countries like Spain and Italy have already performed it.
But after the British government’s announcement, it seemed like these voices would go underheard only for the authorities to make a u-turn after people like Mikel Arteta and Callum Hudson-Odoi have tested positive to COVID-19.
