Chelsea have been inching closer to signing left-back Ben Chilwell from Leicester City and according to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have already wrapped up the transfer.

He wrote on Twitter: “Chelsea on next few days will announce Chilwell deal, go on to receive final answer from Thiago Silva and continue negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen for Kai Havertz after new bid made yesterday.”

As per other reports, the two Premier League sides have agreed on a deal of 50 million pounds for the transfer of the left-back and now it’s only a matter of time before Ben Chilwell moves to Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old is currently recovering from a heel injury which he picked up during the first week of July and according to The Athletic, he should be back to full fitness within three odd weeks.

But now according to a report in the Sun, Ben Chilwell will be visiting another specialist to see how long he will take to be fully fit and Chelsea are keeping a close eye on the progress.

The Sun quotes a source saying: “If Ben gets news he is going to be out for another six weeks, not three, then Chelsea could well take a totally different view on this whole matter.”

While the report does not directly claim it but if Ben Chilwell is out for a significant amount of time then there’s every chance Chelsea might scrap the deal and sign an alternative like Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid.

It’s highly unlikely that the Leicester City man will be out a notable amount of time but since Emerson is likely to leave soon, Frank Lampard really does not want use stopgaps for the first few matches of the new Premier League season.
