Arsenal first choice right-back Hector Bellerin is expected to miss the start of the new season as a result of which the Gunners are going after Thomas Meunier – as per reports.

Bellerin was expected to be fully fit during the summer but the latest reports have suggested that the Spaniard is taking more time to recover.

And hence, Emery has no option but to look for an alternative.

This is not the first time that Thomas Meunier is being linked with the Gunners but now it seems like the North London club have finally made an official approach.

Arsenal have made contact with PSG over the sale of Thomas Meunier and the Ligue 1 reportedly want around £27 million excluding add ons.

The right-back still have one more year left on his current deal with PSG meaning £27 million is a pretty fair price.

But the problem for Emery is that he only have around £45 million to spend this summer and using half of that money on bringing in Thomas Meunier makes no sense.

Experts claim that instead of spending so much money on signing a right-back, the Gunners boss should just wait for Hector Bellerin to be fit and use Maitland-Niles until then.

Meunier is without a doubt a great talent as he clocked up four assists and two goals in just 22 Ligue 1 games last season.

But he is a player that Arsenal clearly cannot afford right now.

And this is why some tabloids have also claimed that the Premier League outfit might not even try and make an official bid for Thomas Meunier.
