Arsenal players Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney are nearing full fitness but both of them could miss out this weekend when the Gunners take on Leeds United, despite several positive news.

Various reports in England, including Football London and The Mirror, have been claiming that Thomas Partey should be fit and available for selection this weekend since his thigh injury, which he picked up against Aston Villa, is not too serious.

Initially, it was thought the midfielder could be out for more than a month but it looks like the news is much more positive. Most of the fans are now hoping that Thomas Partey will feature in the starting XI this weekend against Bielsa’s side but according to Charles Watts, the summer signing might not be risked on Sunday.

“He continues to do pretty well, I’m told after limping off in the game against Villa,” Watts said on his Youtube channel.

“It’s not a serious injury at all, I’m told, so we’re not looking at the five or six weeks we had before – he’s doing well. But I wonder if he’s going to be risked against Leeds, even if he is passed fully fit. That decision hasn’t been made yet.

“People who I have spoken to suggest that Leeds might come a little too early for him, they might have one eye on that Benfica game.”

Kieran Tierney is also expected to be fit before the Leeds game but there’s big a big doubt over these two players’ participation given that Arsenal face Benfica in the Europa League next week.

Winning the Europa League could be a legitimate way to get back amongst the European elites which is why the Gunners boss will want to name his strongest line-up for the Round of 32 clash.

This would mean that he cannot risk too many players against Leeds United on Sunday which is one reason why both Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey could be on the bench.
