Both Arsenal and Man United are looking to strengthen their midfield this summer and reports have suggested the English clubs are planning to make a move for Atletico Madrid man Thomas Partey.

Thomas Partey has come up through the ranks at Atletico and this past season, the 25-year-old has been a key figure for Diego Simeone’s side.

During the 2018-19 season, Thomas made 32 appearances in the La Liga scoring three goals and making four assists.

And while there have been speculations whether the Ghana international will be eager to leave Spain and head to England, his father has now come out to reveal what his advice to the midfielder was.

“I personally told him to move on, if he is not wanted at where he is right now,” Partey‘s dad told Enigye FM(as reported by TEAMtalk).

“Because he might be wanted at somewhere else and so he will like to move to England if he gets the chance.”

The player though is not interested in all these talks and is keeping all his focus on the AFCON.

“It’s hard for me to talk about transfers because the next minute it will be like ‘Thomas is trying to leave’ but for me playing football is what makes me happy,” he recently told BBC Sport.

“I keep saying I am lucky to be at this level now because I know people who play harder and work harder than me but are nowhere close to being here.

“I don’t know what the future holds for me but as long as I play and they are happy with me here then there is no need flirting with others.

“So the only thing that would make me unhappy will be not playing.

“I think most footballers can understand that not playing is the greatest torture any professional footballer can go through.”

Man United have lost Ander Herrera this summer while Arsenal have had to part ways with Aaron Ramsey.

While it is still unclear whether Atletico Madrid will be ready to sell Thomas off during the summer transfer window but now that the player’s dad has given a positive sign, there’s no harm for the Premier League clubs to make a move.
