Tiemoue Bakayoko spent the whole of the 2018-19 season out on loan to AC Milan and despite some initial troubles, the midfielder seemed to have settled down well.

Bakayoko made 42 appearances for the Rossoneri last season and it was more or less certain that AC Milan would be his new home.

Milan do have an option to buy in the loan agreement and just a couple of months ago it was evident that they would exercise it.

But now that the club have failed to qualify for the Champions League and also the fact that Gattuso has left the club, they are no longer interested in keeping Tiemoue Bakayoko.

This means the midfielder will return back to Chelsea during the summer and his manager has claimed that he wishes to stay at Stamford Bridge next season.

“There are some pretty interesting, quite heavy clubs that have inquired, but we give priority to Chelsea,” he told L’Equipe.

“We already know, there is the Champions League and we are looking for stability, Tiemoue has decided to stay there.”

Tiemoue Bakayoko was obviously a flop during his first season in England and new boss Sarri did not hesitate to send him out on loan last summer.

But during his time in Italy, the player seems to have gotten his old form back and the Blues could very well put him to good use next campaign.

Maurizio Sarri is expected to leave the club and head back to Italy in the coming few months and Tiemoue Bakayoko could eventually become important for the next boss who is about to come in.

Also, the fact that Chelsea currently have a transfer embargo, the return of Tiemoue Bakayoko is no less than the arrival of a new player.
