Real Madrid have recently been linked with Chelsea’s Timo Werner but it looks like Thomas Tuchel is not really to sell him which is why Carlo Ancelotti is putting his full focus on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, as per The Sun.
The report claims: “CARLO ANCELOTTI has put Dominic Calvert-Lewin on his wish-list as he prepares to rebuild Real Madrid.
“And with the Toffees under growing financial pressure, Moshiri may feel forced to accept a cut-price £50m bid for the 24-year-old.
“He is also contemplating a move for Chelsea’s German striker Timo Werner but Stamford Bridge boss Thomas Tuchel wants to keep his fellow countryman.”
Will Real Madrid still test the waters for Timo Werner?
Timo Werner had been really underwhelming last season with Chelsea and since the Blues are being linked with players like Haaland and Harry Kane, this news about Tuchel wanting to hold onto Werner is a bit of a surprise.
But, at the same time, if Tuchel is really serious about giving Werner one more season then it’s bad news for Everton.
DCL has been one of the rising stars in the Premier League and with the financial problems Everton are having, Real Madrid could very easily get their hands on the England international this summer.
We doubt if the Chelsea manager is really adamant about holding onto Timo Werner since if Real Madrid can offer good money and at the same time, one of the top strikers becomes available in the market then the Blues could very easily send the 25-year-old out of the club.
One big reason for Real Madrid to opt for Werner and not DCL is that despite having a muted season, Werner can play in almost every area of the pitch in the attacking third but Calvert-Lewin is an out-and-out centre-forward.
Now we just have to wait and see if Carlo Ancelotti is going to make a move for Timo Werner, a player who scored 12 goals in 52 games for Chelsea last season or does he made a move for DCL, who netted 21 goals in just 39 games for Everton.
