Liverpool are currently on top of the Premier League table one point ahead of Manchester City and with games against Wolves and Newcastle coming up, Jurgen Klopp’s men have the opportunity consolidate their position at the top of the table.

And now the manager has been handed yet another boost, this time from his medical team.

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that right-back Trent Alexander Arnold has recovered early from his foot injury and should be fit before the busy festive period.

“It looks surprisingly good,” said the Reds boss.

“I think Wolves (on Friday) will be a bit too early, but after that, we can think about him.

“He needs to train, so far he doesn’t train. Pain goes down second by second, which is good. The moment he can deal with it, he is on the pitch, and the moment he is on the pitch, we can make the decision.

“Now, it looks good for Trent.”

As the manager said, Trent Alexander Arnold will not play against Wolves but he is expected to return back to the first team against Newcastle United and more importantly against Arsenal in their final game of the year.

Apart from Trent Alexander Arnold, James Milner was also recovering from a hamstring injury but the manager has made it clear that the midfielder has also recovered and will feature sometime next week.

Dejan Lovren returned to full fitness last weekend but Jurgen Klopp is still short of central defenders as both Joel Matip and Joe Gomez is out until the end of January 2019.
