Europa League final Baku Olympic Stadium

Arsenal will take on Chelsea in the Europa League final later this month but both the clubs are not too pleased with UEFA right now.

The final will be played at the Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan which is proving to be travelling nightmare for the fans of the London based clubs.

The distance between Baku and London is around 2800 miles and as things stand right now, there are no direct flights between the two destinations.

And talking about the problems that the fans are facing, Arsenal recently released a statement in which they ranted about UEFA choosing such an odd venue for the Europa League final.

But the governing body of football have now replied to Arsenal with a statement of their own by saying that they will work with both the Gunners as well as Chelsea to ensure that the fans to do have to struggle to reach Baku.

“It goes without saying that an all-English final played by two London teams was not a very predictable event at the time of the appointment,” said a letter from UEFA(as reported by the BBC).

“There is little doubt that this has added significant difficulties to the event logistics.

“We are really sorry for the problems that your (and Chelsea’s) fans are encountering trying to organise their journey to Baku.

“Our experts are keenly working on this matter with a view to help find cheaper solutions for travelling fans. We would welcome a joint effort with your club in this respect.

“The bidding process for a club competition final is generally held a couple of years in advance, meaning that the exact circumstances in which the final will have to be organised cannot be known at the time of the appointment,

“Mobility and accommodation are obviously key criteria falling under evaluation, with airport capacity being an important element.”
