Liverpool take on Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup on the 14th of August at the Vodafone Arena in Istanbul.

The Blues won the Europa League by beating fellow London club Arsenal while Liverpool won the Champions League by overcoming the Spurs test.

But going into this match, both the managers are having selections headaches as they are likely to miss a number of their key players.

And perhaps the issue is more serious for Liverpool since the likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Alisson Becker were all involved in national duties during the summer break which means that they could take to some time to recover.

Mo Salah and Sadio Mane were playing in the AFCON and Mane just got off the tournament last week as Senegal had reached the final.

Alisson and Roberto Firmino, on the other hand, was playing for Brazil in the Copa America and they went on to win the tournament beating Peru.

All these players were at a risk to miss the UEFA Super Cup final vs Chelsea but now reports are claiming that Salah, Alisson and Firmino will report back to training on Monday the 29th of July.

Recently, Jurgen Klopp was asked about the fitness of Alisson Becker and this is what he had to say.

“I sent Alisson a message [saying] ‘are you okay?'” the German manager told the Anfield Wrap.

“And he only sent a picture back of him riding a horse with a cowboy hat on.”

While the trio should be fit to play vs Chelsea but Sadio Mane is expected to miss the match since he will only report back to training just before the new campaign kicks off.

The UEFA Super Cup will be the second game of the new season for Liverpool as the Reds will take on Norwich City in the Premier League season opener vs Norwich City.
