A couple of weeks back Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere announced that he would be ending his 17-year association with the Gunners once his contract expires.
And at the end of June, he did just that eventually joining London rivals West Ham United.
Now Arsenal’s new manager Unai Emery has explained that the decision to let Jack Wilshere move out was purely tactical and technical.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Emery said: “It was a tactical, technical decision,
“The conversation with Wilshere was a very good conversation. I explained to him my opinion and how I will want to create the team and not sure [I could] say to him he’s going to play in the XI.
“Also he explained to me the decision is not easy for him but he wanted to choose the best option for him. Every time it was with respect.
“I know this player is very important for the supporters, he grew up here with Arsenal. But I don’t give for him one post in the starting XI. It’s for that he chose to leave here and I respect this.”
After moving around England in a couple of mediocre loan spells, the midfielder finally started settling down at the Emirates last season and many believed that his efforts would be rewarded with a new deal at the club.
But the departure of Arsene Wenger seriously dented those hopes and new boss Unai Emery clearly did not see Jack Wilshere as an integral part of the squad.
Now that Jack Wilshere has gone on to join West Ham United – the club he supported before joining Arsenal, he is more or less a guaranteed starter under Manuel Pellegrini.
