If you have been living on this planet recently then you might have heard that a certain Roger Federer recently won the Australian Open. He played against Rafa Nadal and the whole world was looking on. It was certainly one of the most high-profile tennis encounters in recent history.

Federer ultimately won the match and the whole world was out there congratulating him for his win. And so did Manchester United. But through a very unlikely source, Bastian Schweinsteiger. Schweinsteiger got a very rare start in United’s FA Cup fourth-round match. And produced a champion performance in midfield. He scored a goal, had an assist and produced a man of the match performance.

And after he scored a wonderful overhead goal, he capped it off by celebrating the win of Roger Federer. He produced a series of forehand and backhand shadow shots which clearly indicated that he was delighted with Federer’s win. Schweinsteiger is a huge tennis fan and is also married to tennis star Ana Ivanovic.

This was Schweinsteiger’s first start of the season and he repaid it with a wonderful performance during the night. Bastian has not featured in Mourinho’s plan at all but the German has been utterly professional in the way he has handled the situation. And with Schniderlein and Depay gone, Mourinho might name Schweinsteiger in his Europa League squad.
